Homemade Sausage & Spinach Pizza
The perfect thing for a Friday night!
Ingredients:
1 - 15 ounce can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons tomato paste
3 tablespoons grated parmesan Cheese
3/4 teaspoon dried, crushed oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried, crushed basil
1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1 - 5 or 6 ounce package baby spinach
1 pound frozen pizza or bread dough, thawed
Olive oil
8 ounces Italian sausage cooked and drained
1.5 to 2 cups shredded mozzarella
Directions:
Preheat oven to 475.
In a small bowl, whip the tomato sauce, tomato paste, 2 tablespoons of parmesan, oregano, basil, and red pepper
Microwave the spinach in a large bowl with 2 teaspoons water sprinkled over it for 30 seconds. Continue cooking in 10 second intervals until slightly wilted. Remove and let stand for 2 minutes, then blot water off.
Brush a baking sheet or stone with olive oil and set aside. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 14" circle then transfer to baking sheet or stone. Roll edges up to form a crust edge. Brush dough lightly with olive oil. Spread tomato sauce mixture over dough and top with sausage and spinach. Top with mozzarella and remaining parmesan.
Bake at 475 for 15-20 minutes or until cheese and crust are lightly browned. Let stand 5 minutes after removing from oven.
