Auburn is a unique place, with part of the city lying in the King County boundaries and another within Pierce County. The city has its own transit center downtown that is recognized as a focal point for the southern section of King County. The Sound Transit buses found in Auburn connect to other nearby cities including Federal Way, Sumner, and Kent. Auburn also has a bus system for King County which connects to the local mall and community college.

Auburn’s population is currently over 70,000 and there are nearly 30,000 households with about half of them being family homes. The Auburn School District, being bigger than the city of Auburn itself, has 3 high schools, 4 middle schools, and 14 elementary schools. The Auburn Public Library is a historic landmark of the city, having been built in 1914, and the post office in 1937.

 

Muckleshoot Casino

The Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, whose reservation is located southeast of Seattle, opened a casino in 1995 to use the revenues of the business to reclaim the lands near the reservation that were originally inhabited by them. The Muckleshoot Casino is a very popular destination for both residents and visitors of Washington, having been integrated into our community and lifestyles. This casino not only offers slots and card games, but they also have restaurants, bars, banquets, and live entertainment.

White River Valley Museum

This museum, created by the joined effort of the White River Valley Historical Society and the City of Auburn, displays interesting and educational presentations about the region’s culture and history. Some of the permanent collections include exhibits about the Muckleshoot Native American Tribe, lives of the early Japanese-Americans, and the first railroad systems built in the state of Washington.

The Outlet Collection

Being the largest mall in the entire Pacific Northwest, the Outlet Collection, formerly known as the Super Mall, is an extremely popular destination for anyone even remotely close to Auburn, WA. The mall currently has over 100 stores including a Walmart Supercenter, Burlington, Nordstrom Rack, Bed Bath & Beyond, and more. There are countless restaurants located around the mall as well as a huge food court in the center of it.

Game Farm Wilderness Park

This 10-acre park is a perfect representation of the natural beauty of Washington state, as the majority of the land has been preserved and derived of city development. As most parks are only open from dawn until dusk, this beautiful park is open 24/7 because it also serves as a campground for both RVs and tents. There are picnic shelters, restrooms, play areas, and a huge disc golf course. The White River Trail also runs through this park and leads east along the White River.

Emerald Downs Racetrack

This fun and exciting racetrack is owned by the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe and named after Seattle, whose nickname is “The Emerald City”. Emerald Downs includes a mile-long oval-shaped racetrack, high stands and grassy lawns for general admission seating, and dining options as well. Come bet on your favorite horse or just watch the race and enjoy a nice meal!
