Centered exactly in between Seattle and Tacoma, Kent is the second oldest city in all of King County, Seattle being the first. It is also the 6th largest city in the entire state with over 130,000 people living there. Kent is split up into three sections: East Hill, the Valley, and West Hill. The city has over 70 parks and is the fourth largest manufacturing and distribution city in America with 4 huge companies in the steel industry.

The Kent School District includes 4 high schools, 7 middle schools, and 28 elementary schools, as well as 2 academies. Kent also has multiple forms of public transportation as part of the King County Metro transit including the Sounder train, the Link light rail, bikes, water taxis, and the local bus service.
Kent Station
Kent Station is both a train station served by the Sounder commuter train as well as a shopping center. Some of the many services offered at Kent Station include an AMC theatre, multiple banks, GameStop, hair salons, Zumiez, and phone stores. You can also find many different restaurants at Kent Station such as Gyro Stop, Chipotle, Cold Stone Creamery, Mod Pizza, The Ram, Trapper’s Sushi, and See’s Candies.
Pacific Raceways
Pacific Raceways is a race course that is used for both road racing and drag racing and has been around since 1960. This family-owned renowned business provides a safe and controlled environment for racing of any kind. The course that stretches over 2 miles long has hosted some of the world’s most notable racing events. This course also serves as the training grounds for law enforcement practicing in pursuit chasing.
Lake Meridian Park
Located in East Hill, this 16-acre park is a scenic spot with spectacular views of Mt. Rainier and features a boat launch, fishing area, picnic shelters, playground, and a swimming area with lifeguards on duty. There are plenty of walking trails in the shade, and Lake Meridian Park also hosts concerts in the park during the summer.
Great Wall Shopping Mall
Great Wall Shopping Mall has the largest Asian grocery store in America, 99 Ranch Market. This mall has provided Asian products to the Puget Sound community since 1999. Great Wall Shopping Mall operates under high management standards to provide the best shopping experience for their customers. The Great Wall Shopping Mall also hosts many cultural events every year to help preserve the Asian culture.
ShoWare Center
This multi-purpose arena is approximately 150,000 square feet and can seat over 7,000 people. The ShoWare Center is the United States’ first sports & entertainment arena to achieve GOLD certification from Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design by the US Green Building Council. Over one hundred events are held here each year such as sporting events, concerts, comedy shows, family shows, and more.
